NDP 2013 LIVE!

9th August 2013, Friday.

It's the first time Bf and I attending NDP LIVE together! The first/last time both of us went was back in our Primary school where our Primary school brought us there when we were Primary 5?

Our Theme
"Everyone has a story to tell and these stories define who we are as an individual and collectively as a nation. This year’s theme for the National Day Parade (NDP) 2013 is “Many Stories… One Singapore”. It calls on everyone to remember and share the stories that make us who we are and how we identify ourselves as Singaporeans. “Many Stories…” encourages Singaporeans to tell the story of our personal journey, both individually and collectively as a society, as well as our hopes and aspirations for the future. They can be personal stories or stories we have heard that have touched us. Taken individually, each story shows that we are all unique. Taken together, they tell of who we are as a country. This leads to “One Singapore” — a culmination of the unique individual stories that represent the many facets of Singapore society. It is a reminder that despite our different backgrounds, we are one Singapore. It emphasises that we are all interconnected through our shared stories and history. Together, “Many Stories… One Singapore” forms a theme that unites all Singaporeans to celebrate what makes us Singapore."

And guessed what, we were sitting at the 8th row from the front!

"Everyday Singaporeans and their stories take centre stage at the NDP Show this year, and there is no better way to tell all these different stories than through a variety show. Nine short, sharp segments—Play, Build, Reinvent, Express, Represent, Aspire, Embrace, Love and Party—showcase the diversity and uniqueness of Singaporeans in an entertaining and humourous way. This year, home-grown producer, director, writer and performer Ms Selena Tan helms the show as Creative Director, while Ms Elaine Chan returns for a second time as Music Director and Mr Patrick Loo comes on board as Chief Choreographer. This dynamic team will present an audio and visual feast for the senses. A fun and colourful carnival sets an exciting mood during pre-parade, but this swiftly changes to optimism, pride, nostalgia and much more through each of the different show segments that highlights a different aspect of the Singapore Story – the people who built or are building Singapore, the innovators who seek to break new ground, talents who have flown the Singapore flag high and many others. Giant beach balls, rising buildings, unfolding polka dot ‘trees’ and even the Merlion join us on stage to celebrate the nation’s 48th birthday. Besides taking on a variety show format for the first time, the highlights of NDP Show this year include a human LED screen display; extreme sportsmen including BMX bikers, parkour runners, skate boarders and inline skaters who perform daring stunts live; the Merlion, an icon of Singapore coming alive and joined by Team Singapore athletes and aspiring Singaporean athletes; and the Sing A Nation choir."
